Q.   WHAT IS MEALS-ON-WHEELS? 

 A. Meals-on-Wheels is an at-home meal service, in which a hot mid-day and/or cold dinner meal is delivered to a recipient’s home Monday through Saturday, excluding major holidays.


Q.    WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE MEALS ON WHEELS?

A.  Those who qualify to receive Meals on Wheels are residents of Westlake Village, Agoura Hills, old Agoura, and Oak Park, who are unable to prepare their own meals because they are temporarily or permanently incapacitated.

 

 

Q.    HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

 

A.    There is a standard charge of $6.50 per day for the two meals. Billing is done monthly.

 

 

Q.     WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE MEALS?

 

A.      The two meals include a hot, mid-day meal consisting of an entree plus two vegetables, and a cold evening meal, which includes a sandwich, milk, dessert and fruit.

 

 

Q.     WHEN ARE THE MEALS DELIVERED?

 

A.      Both meals are delivered to your house, approximately between the hours of 11:30 a.m. and 12 noon, Monday through Saturday.  Please note that meals are NOT delivered on any of the major holidays, (July 4th, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years.)

 

 

Q.    WHO DELIVERS THE MEALS?

 

A.     The meals are delivered by volunteer drivers who are residents of the area and have been approved by the Board of Directors.

 

 

Q.     WHO PREPARES THE MEALS?

 

A.     The Los Robles Medical Center prepares the food each day at their East Campus facililty.

 

 

Q.     HOW LONG CAN I RECEIVE MEALS?

 

A.      We will provide you with weekday meals until you are able to prepare your own meals or no longer need our assistance.

 

 

Q.     WHERE TO I CALL TO REQUEST MEALS ON WHEELS?

 

A.     Our coordinator (Debbie) can be reached at (805) 370-4295.  You will be instructed to leave a message on the voice mail. Please leave your name and phone number and your call will be returned by the Meals on Wheels coordinator.

 

 

Q.    IF I AM IN THE HOSPITAL, HOW DO I GET INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROGRAM?

 

A.    Speak with your doctor, nurse the hospital Discharge Planner or the Social Services representative at the hospitsl, or call the Meals on Wheels coordinator.
